The NBL is dying. Like Jack in the Titanic, its slow, painful and it’s almost bringing a tear to my eye. Last season we had 14 teams, this season 10 and another team is about to bit the dust leaving Sydney with out a basketball presence. Which is great the the teams sitting in positions 7 8 9 and 10 on the table as they instantly jump one place closer to the finals!
Sydney Spirit’s is the defaulting team and their last hope rests with owner Greg Evans, Evans claims that the team will be put into administration by the weekend and the league are desparately trying to contact him to talk about a deal. Unfortunateyl Mr Evans won’t pick up the phone to talk deal with the league and all attempts to make contact via carrier piegon has also failed.
I truly believe that if the NBL had more dedicated and passionate fans as this guy in the video we would have no problem restoring the game of basketball to its former entertaining glory days.

The only thing better than a good Haka before a rugby game is a good old fashioned staring contest. You remember back in the day when you’d challenge your mate to a staring contest and then about 15 seconds in you’d punch him in the guts yelling “you blinked!!! you blinked!!!”.
Well this spine timgling encounter brought tears to my eyes. I love the ref who from about 2m:45s in trys to make his presence felt.
New Zealand went on to crush the Welsh team 29 – 9. Thats 20 in a row for the All Blacks.

Greg Bird, former Cronulla Shark will go before the Cronulla board today to see if he will be playing this year after **allegedly** glassing his missus in the eyeball. The missus denies any wrong doing on Greg’s behalf and says that she ‘walked into the glass’ during a heated argument at a Sydney nightclub.
We understand that one of the conditions of Greg rejoining the Sharks is that he uses the yellow pages to sort out any altercations.
Like any good cop will tell ya a few sessions with the yellows and you’ll have your woman well trained so you can get back to the football

We know that Cousins is no saint but Perth Now reported last night that Ben Cousins had been given the all clear by the Saints to join the national draft only to change their story 15 minutes after Channel 7 when to air claiming the exact opposite.
Apparently Ben Cousins isn’t the only one who should be subjected to regular drug tests, thank god for the power of online and the ability to make changes on the fly.
Apparently the Saints balked at Ben’s failure to provide a hair sample and were unwilling to subsidize his wax habit.
The Lions on the other hand have spoken to Ben and are happy with what they have heard and are willing to give Cousins a much needed second chance. We think that Ben will be a great addition to the Lions and should they draft well then they have a chance to turn their premiership hopes right around.

Is anyone out there even watching the World Cup any more? I mean jesus you might want to make it a touch competitive yeah? I mean check out these score lines -
England 32 – PNG 22
Scotland 18 – France 36
Australia 30 – New Zealand 6
Tonga 22 – Ireland 20
Samoa 20 – Tonga 12
Fiji 42 – France 6
New Zealand 48 – PNG 6
Australia 52 – England 4
Scotland 18 – Fiji 16
Ireland 34 – Samoa 16
Scotland 0 – Tonga 48
England 24 – New Zealand 36
France 10 – Samoa 42
Australia 46 – PNG 6
Ireland 14 – Fiji 30
New Zealand 32 – England 22
Australia 52 – Fiji 0.
So as Australia marches on to their 7th consecutive world cup grand final against New Zealand, we just hope it’s as entertaining as this.
As for results, well our mates at SportingBet – Australia’s Biggest Bookmaker have Australia at a ridiculous $1.12 for the win and the Kiwi’s at $6.35. If you have any money left from the recent stock market crash then you might be wise to put a lazy $20 on the Aussies to win. I mean look at those results – everyone else is here for a holiday.
